Fault F82

Fault F82 appears on the coffee machine display.

The brew unit has not been sufficiently cleaned.

Remove and clean the brew unit once a week. Also clean the area below the brew unit once a week.

The brew unit must be cleaned manually in addition to the automatic cleaning. A cleaning tablet may be required to degrease the brew unit even if the cleaning cartridge is fitted.

Proceed as follows:

  • Open the appliance door.

  • Remove the water container.

  • Press the button on the bottom of the brew unit handle (1).

  • Whilst doing so, turn the handle forwards (2).

  • Pull the brew unit sideways first (1).

  • Then slide it out forwards (2).

  • Tilt the brew unit forwards (3).

  • When you have removed the brew unit, do not change the position of the handle on the brew unit.

Otherwise, the brew unit cannot be reinserted.

  • The moving parts of the brew unit are lubricated.

Cleaning agents will damage the brew unit.

Clean the brew unit by hand under warm running water without using any washing-up liquid.

  • Rub away any coffee residues from the filters. One filter is located in the funnel. The other filter can be found to the left of the funnel.

  • Dry the funnel to prevent ground coffee sticking to it the next time a coffee is made.

  • Clean the inside of the coffee machine.

  • Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dry coffee residues.

  • Clean the brew unit niche with a damp, clean sponge cloth.

Manual descaling has not been carried out correctly or at all.

Manual descaling must be carried out with 2 descaling tablets in addition to automatic descaling. Manual descaling is not carried out via the descaling cartridge.

For optimum descaling results, we recommend using the Miele descaling tablets. The descaling tablets have been specially developed for Miele coffee machines.

Other descaling agents, which may contain other acids besides citric acid and/or other undesirable substances, such as chlorides, could cause damage.

Other acids or undesirable substances can damage the coffee machine. Moreover, the descaling result required cannot be guaranteed if the descaling solution was not of the appropriate concentration.

Risk of damage from spilt descaling solution.

Sensitive surfaces and/or natural floors can suffer damage.

Wipe up any spillages of descaling agent immediately.

You will need 2 descaling tablets. Carry out the manual descaling process as follows:

  • First fill the water container to the  mark with lukewarm water.

  • Then drop 2 descaling tablets in the water.

  • Follow the instructions for the descaling agent mixing ratio carefully.

Otherwise the descaling process will be incomplete or cancelled prematurely.

Fill the water container with the specified amount of water.

  • Push the water container back into the machine.

  • Follow the further instructions given on the display.

  • When Rinse water container appears on the display, remove the water container and rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

  • Ensure that no descaling solution residue remains in the water container.

  • Fill the water container to the  mark with fresh drinking water.

The descaling process is complete when the drinks menu appears.

After descaling, carefully clean the water container and drip tray to remove all descaling solution residues.

The water hardness is set too low.

Setting the water hardness too low may lead to limescale forming in the appliance earlier than expected. Contact the local water supplier to find out the water hardness in the area.

Proceed as follows to set the right water hardness:

  • Select the Settings menu.

  • Select the Water hardness option.

  • Enter your local water hardness (in °dH).

  • Confirm with OK.
